Dyani Youngblood is a 48-year- old female of Native American descent. A few days ago, she was diagnosed after a biopsy with an aggressive form of breast cancer. She is being admitted today for a left mastectomy and will be followed up by oncology. While she is waiting for the operating room to call, she realizes that she forgot her medicine ball. She is quite anxious as she tells her cousin and the nurse that she needs to return home to get the medicine ball and shares a story of her mother's death (from breast cancer). As a little girl, she remembers her father telling her that the reason her mother died was because she did not have the medicine ball with her during her treatments. She insists she needs to leave.
