Question

Initial office visit A 30-year-old female has been referred to a psychiatrist by her primary care provider. The client has difficulty performing her job duties as a cashier at a local grocery store. The client reports she has germaphobia and insists on washing her hands every 15 minutes while at work to prevent the transmission of germs from her customers to herself. She experiences severe anxiety if she does not wash her hands routinely. The other employees have told the store manager that the client is constantly in the bathroom and that they must pick up her work, causing frustration with her job performance. The client voices that she is fearful she will lose her job if she does not seek help but is worried about what treatment will be involved.
