The FBI receives an anonymous tip from an "unknown user" (UU) who alleges that a Mr. Justin Purvey who resides at a certain address in New York has images and videos of child pornography (CP) on his computer. The FBI attempt to trace the tip back to UU but with no luck. The FBI responds to the tip requesting more information from UU. Specifically, Agent Sneaky informs UU that he will not be prosecuted for any crimes or anything he did to obtain this information, but the FBI needs more information in order to get a warrant. UU responds that he cannot reveal his methods or provide the FBI with what he obtained from Mr. Purvey's computer, but he will be happy to continue to provide them with more leads as he discovers them. Agent Sneaky responds to UU by thanking him and saying that the FBI would be happy to receive more leads from UU in the future. And that if UU were to change his mind and reveal himself, Agent Sneaky assures him that he will not be prosecuted because he has not committed any crime but has instead helped the FBI tremendously.
