The only situation in which you would be granted an extension on any assignment is if you were seriously ill (hospitalized) or a family member has passed away. Serious mental health crises could also be considered. However you must provide documentation of the situation in order for the instructor to consider an extension. If you do not have documentation or evidence your request for an extension would be denied.
