During her regular monthly check up with her physician, she mentions all of her current symptoms, which include excessive thirst, excessive urination, and blurred vision. The doctor orders a urinalysis, glucose tolerance test, and measures her abdominal girth. The results were as follows; Blood glucose was 240, abdominal girth was greater than anticipated, her urine tested positive for ketones, and she failed the glucose tolerance test.
