Eye drops can go in the ears but ear drops can't go in the eyes? Why?
Scenario: The clinic that you have recently been hired at requires that all patients limit their problem list to 2 problems per appointment due to time contraints. If they have more healthcare problems to report they need to double book their time. When you arrive in the morning, you find that you have been booked for 45 patients and you only work 8 hours. You will have to keep each appointment to average around 10 mins. Today just seems to be getting worse.....by lunch time your average appointment time is lasting 30 mins. You are exhausted and feel like you haven't really given the patients' appropriate attention today. Thank goodness that a few of your afternoon appointments have canceled. It is now at the end of the day. You are 5 mins from leaving and the pharmacist calls and wants to change a dosage form for a prescription you wrote for allergic conjunctivitis. The pharmacist tells you that you prescribed ear drops for the eyes. What do you do? And why do you do this? Please support with outside resources to support your answer.
