Gracism
The extension of grace and positive favor towards others, regardless of and sometimes because of color, class, or culture.
My question is do you agree with this post? yes or no and why
Gracism: The Art of Inclusion by David Anderson is a great book for anyone who wants to learn how to correctly treat people, especially if they are of a different culture than oneself. Three most prominent principles that stood out to me are "I will honor you", "I will consider you", "I will celebrate with you".
"I will honor you" to me is important and stands out because everybody deserves honor no matter where they're from. God created us equal, and every part of humanity must be honored. When two people meet and they are of different cultural background they should always honor one another's roots and ancestry. To me it is basic respect to honor another's culture.
"I will consider you" means equal concern and consideration. Everybody's needs and differences need to be considered equally, if we want to live in a fair and just society that honors God and his will. That's why we should consider each other with an open heart and do so equally between people with different background cultures.
"I will celebrate with you" is the most joyful and positive way to affirm people's uniqueness. We should rejoice about our differences as we all make up God's puzzle, and each adds a unique flavor and color to the painting of humanity. Celebrating and rejoicing together, especially in a church setting, or a counseling room adds to how we make and behave as an honorable people of God.
As a counselor these three principles will be major parts in how to see my clients in the private session. I will honor them, I will consider them, and I will celebrate them. I hope my clients will learn these key principles of gracism and pass it along in their life as well. This is how we can build an inclusive, biblical environment and society. Gracism is the main principle that consists of smaller acts of kindness and honor and celebration. If I didn't have to pick three, I would choose all the principles listed in the book. God created so many ways for us to get along and treat other right, even if we are created differently by origin, color, age, or any other parameter.
