Employee development today has become a way of expressing organizations commitment towards its employees. It’s a win-win for both the employees and the organization. The employees feel valued as training and development helps employees grow and test themselves. It is one of the motivational factors for employees to stick around in an organization for a longer duration. Investment in employee development is cost effective for the organizations compared to the expenses incurred in rehiring. Developmental activities help the staff maintain pace with the evolving skills needed to do their jobs. Example the I.T. industry. On the other hand knowledgeable staff means more likelihood of success. For organizations to innovate, improve and lead, it is essential to invest in the skills and development of their people. This also improves productivity and efficiency of the organization. If the employees do not learn and grow, they are going to make the same mistakes again. With employee development, organizations can expect the right people to be in the right role.
Management training is an important aspect of an organizations overall employee training and development plan. It is carefully planned and executed for employees who are ready to move on to the next level in the organization. Staff working at lower levels of the hierarchy work in silos, have less responsibilities and focus mainly on individual growth. Staffs which are now eligible and capable to move on to the next level in the organization require certain skills to perform in their new role. Management trainings help these employees to learn the skills needed and be able to apply them. Management trainings equip these budding managers/team leads to work as a team and lead a team. Skills such as team work, conflict management, successful delegation etc. are imparted in management trainings which also build their emotional intelligence. These skills also help the person perform better at an individual level while managing a team. The management trainings help individuals take up increased responsibilities. Management trainings help employees develop their personality needed in today’s corporate world. Lastly, it helps with employee motivation, satisfaction and retention.
