ACTING ASSIGNMENT
For this assignment, you will be exploring the work of the actor ("actor" is a non-gender specific term in the business). For this exercise, you will need to choose, and watch, a major actor's work.
* For the purpose of this assignment, we will define "major actor's work" as a role which was nominated for an acting award, either an "Oscar", or an "Actor" (the awards given by the Screen Actors Guild).
Once you have chosen an appropriate role, watch the film for content and plot.
After watching it, you are to pick a scene of the nominated actor's work. This is the work that you will explore for the assignment.
Once you have chosen the scene, watch it again and analyze it for the actor's work.
You will be writing a two page essay on the choices that the actor has made.
This does not mean the story that the actor's character goes through, or their words - that was written by the playwright, and is not the actor's work. Their work is to take the lines, the story, and add life to it. The actor does this by how they live in their body, how they say the lines, how they act out what another artist has written.
Write A Two Page Essay Breaking Down The Actor's Choices. How Do They Make Choices? How Do They Use Their Voice, Their Body, Their Imagination To Create A Living, Breathing Character? Use Examples - Be Specific!
