Engaging in Social Justice/Social Justice and Human Rights in the News 2
Examples would be attending a church/synagogue service of a different faith, exploring the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) exhibit at the History Museum, attending a movie/play that addresses issues of diversity, going to a predominantly minority-identity event (e.g., attending an event at a retirement community, participating in an International Institute event, attending a rural community event), or any legal activity that would allow you to engage in diversity or experience difference. Ideally, as you engage, you will learn about diversity and human rights issues.
Given the current pandemic and for your safety and that of the community, you may participate in these events virtually. You must participate in five events and you, of course, may participate in virtual events. If your schedule does not allow you to engage in events related to social justice and diversity, for a maximum of two experiences, you may locate podcasts, news programs, documentaries, and other audio/visual materials for the project.
