'Do the Right Thing' and 'Set it OFF' both depict elements of critical/conflict criminology by exploring issues of racism, classism, and stereotypes. These films illuminate the historical issues of these societal problems and the ways in which they continue to affect marginalized communities. The media does have a social responsibility to its viewing communities to accurately and responsibly portray these issues and to contribute to meaningful conversations about them. Both films are still relevant today as these issues continue to be present in society.
