Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer a distant, futuristic idea. It is reshaping the world as we know it, and one of its most profound impacts is being felt in the realm of education.
As students of the 21st century, you are at the frontier of this technological revolution. AI offers tools that can customize learning, serve as a personal tutor, and provide motivation. However, AI also comes with its share of challenges and concerns for both students and teachers, particularly in terms of academic integrity.
For this assignment, you'll be writing a thoughtful essay of at least 1000 words (maximum of 1500 words) that explores some of the drawbacks and some of the advantages of AI in higher education (drawn from our readings and discussions) and, most importantly, articulates your personal plan for the ethical use of AI in your education. How do you envision yourself balancing the ease and capabilities of AI with the values and experiences of education in your classes and the academic integrity policies of your institutions of higher learning, beginning with Chaffey College*? Where do you draw the line when it comes to AI use in assignments for your classes?
Personal experience and observations will be important components of this essay, although you will also want to make use of at least 3 of the sources which inform our discussions on different aspects of AI in education: Fear, Hallucination, Bias; Cautious Optimism; Ethical Considerations.
