Outline:
The module offers you an introduction to human resource management (HRM) in organisations within the context of human behaviour at work.

The contribution made by employees to organisational success can sometimes get lost in day to day challenges of business. This module covers the role of motivation, team-working, culture and organisational practice on the performance of employees. The module introduces the four key elements of HRM (resourcing, reward, relations, development), which underpin the role of the HR function in Talent management when recruiting and developing staff.

Learning outcome 1: Define theories, models and concepts relating to the study of human behaviour in the workplace;
Learning outcome 2: Demonstrate an understanding of how these theories can explain the way that people behave and interact at work;
Learning outcome 3: Identify and explore the role of HRM in managing the employment relationship through policy and practice.
