Problem- When disasters hit an area, the cost of everything seems to go up immediately: food, water, housing, gas and so forth. Explain why this phenomenon may be a good thing, using the laws of supply and demand to explain your answer.

I need help to explain the phenomenon of rising costs during a disaster. The costs are not just rising because the merchant is trying to make more money for others hardship. Supply and demand do describe this phenomenon. In many cases the rising costs during a disaster re to everyone's benefit.
