Task description

You will assume the role of a blockchain consultant responsible for preparing a comprehensive report for the top management team of an organisation operating in the healthcare industry. This team comprises not only executives and senior leaders but also IT professionals and engineers within the organisation. The primary objective of this report is to propose the implementation of a blockchain solution to enhance various aspects of the healthcare business. Blockchain technology is increasingly gaining prominence due to its potential to revolutionize the way healthcare companies manage data, interact with stakeholders, and improve operational efficiency. Your report will address the following tasks:

Task details

Task 1 Introduction to the healthcare industry and the selected company: You should cover the following aspects: (1) Provide an overview of the healthcare industry as a business; (2) Emphasize the nature and significance of the healthcare industry; (3) Highlight the technologies commonly used in the healthcare industry in general; and (4) Describe the technologies and solutions employed by the selected healthcare company.

Task 2

Advantages of utilising three blockchain solutions for this industry: You should (1) suggest three blockchain solutions that can be applied to help solve some of the existing and potential business processes in the healthcare industry; and (2) highlight at least three advantages of blockchain solutions and three barriers to implementing blockchain based solutions.

Task 3

Identify collaborators/stakeholders of a blockchain solution: You should
(1) identify a minimum of three possible collaborators/stakeholders for one of the three blockchain solutions introduced and (2) include both existing and potential collaborators/stakeholders among upstream and downstream business partners who may be affected by the blockchain solution.
(600 words, 15 marks) (CLO3)

Task 4 Explain the implementation process: Explain how you would implement one of the blockchain application solutions using blockchain technology on specific blockchain platforms.

(1) You need to recommend techniques for the requirements analysis phase of the selected organisation to adopt blockchain to solve a specific problem that can be addressed by blockchain solutions.

Explain critical aspects of the implementation lifecycle that the blockchain application implementation team must consider in various phases of the lifecycle, including technical aspects related to permissionless vs. permissioned blockchain platforms, custom smart contracts vs. simple transactions, on-chain vs. off-chain transactions, and more.

Identify at least three factors that organisations should consider for blockchain implementation, including factors affecting the choice of blockchain design, the use of smart contracts or transactions, the type of blockchain (private, public, hybrid, consortium), and which blockchain platforms to use.

Task 5 Architectural aspects: Identify three architectural concerns that an organisation should consider when implementing and integrating legacy systems into a blockchain-enabled environment. (600 words)

Task 6 - Healthcare services data management: You should (1) provide a sample smart contract architecture for healthcare services data management, (2) identify the actors, data, and their connections in a blockchain solution, and (3) provide explanations and graphical representations of this architecture.
