Life-Course Perspective The life-course perspective embodies theories that explain involvement in criminal acts over time. These theories include the general theory of crime, age-graded theory of adult social bonds, and biopsychosocial factors. Recently, criminologists have begun to explore how these theories also apply to victimization. The victim-offender overlap may have many commonalities and examples of this can be seen in the Uniform Crime Report (UCR) and the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS). This week for your discussion, review the UCR and NCVS data and discuss where you see victim-offender overlap within the data. Explain how this aligns with the life-course perspective.
