Question - Adrian Powell supervises one of the four customer service shifts at the Sangster International Airport (SIA). He supervises fifteen employees who are responsible for helping customers with lost baggage, dealing with delayed or missed flights, finding hotel rooms for stranded passengers, and providing transport. SIA proposes to implementing a 360-degree feedback programme for all employees. This programme would replace the organization's current performance appraisal system. In the current performance appraisal system, supervisors rate employees. The system has no link to compensation but performance appraisal ratings are taken into consideration when promotion employees. Defensiveness on the part of employees and supervisors' reluctance to give feedback is a major problem with the current system.

The airport's management has hired you to help them develop the 360-degree programme. SIA's Management proposes to use the programme as a developmental tool and for compensation all staff. They are also proposing to include a team rating element. They intend to first test the system with Adrian's shift, before introducing it to the rest of the organization.
