Q1) High value of serum cholesterol is thought to be risk factor for heart diseases. National cholesterol education program of national institutes of health in 1987 stated that recommended value for serum cholesterol is below 200mg/dl and value between 200 and 240 is considered to be borderline. Value above 240 may point to problem and NCEP recommended that lipoprotein analysis must be carried out. Based on these data it seems that many non hispanic whites have serum cholesterol values that are too high, particularly woem. Medical literatures also ultimately beginning to identify homocysteine is a very significant risk factor for heart disease, even among people with normal levels of serum cholesterol
a) Provide some possible reasons why non hispanic white males have higher mortality from heart and cerebrovascular diseaes when it seems from these data that non hispanic white females must have higher rates.
b) Give a possible description why serum cholesterol values for older males are lower than for younger males and reverse is true for females.
Explain your answer to someone who is familiar with the t test for a single sample, but not with the t test for independent means.
Determine the value of correlation coefficient between these 2 variables?
At 0.05 level of significance, is there evidence of significant relationship between age group and where people mainly get their news? If so, describe the relationship.
If campaign can be expected to also to rise the probability of best case scenario to 0.4, is it a good investment.
Use the method of least squares to model the relationship between x and y.
Events A and B are mutually exclusive events defined on common sample space. If P (A) 0.5 and P (A or B) = 0.70, determine P (B).
Simulate both one-and two-teller systems, calculate waiting time, average queue length, and percentage utilization for each system.
Using the confidence interval when conducting a two-tail test for the population mean we do not reject the null hypothesis if the hypothesized value for:

At the .05 significance level, is there a difference in the mean number of calls per day between the two employees?
Test hypothesis that mean weight of 2 sheets are equal against alternative that they are not(suppose equal variances). Use α=0.05 and suppose equal variances. Determine the P value.
