You are seeing Mary, a 46 year old lady from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background in the community clinic today. Mary tells you that she was diagnosed with the "sugar disease" and hasn't taken the "pills" the doctor gave her for it a long time ago - she thinks they got lost somewhere. Mary states she also has "the bad blood pressure" and is supposed to take something for that also but has run out. When discussing her diet, Mary states she doesn't like cooking and eats a lot of fried food and drinks Coke. Mary has never been an active person and lately she has been quite short of breath, she is very overweight and smokes half a packet of cigarettes per day. Recently she has noticed her vision is blurry and thinks she needs glasses.

Today her vital observations are: Heart rate - 106, blood pressure - 171/95, respiratory rate - 20bpm, SpO2 - 98% on room air, BGL: 10.7mmol/L.

Question 1) Based on your knowledge of pathophysiology and in own words, explain how each of the following are linked to her condition of type 2 Diabetes
