Question: we have discussed examples of brands and their positioning strategies. Take a few minutes to reflect on what you would like your personal brand to be---specifically, consider a positioning statement for your personal brand to be positioned to potential employers when you are on the job market.
Consider your target market segment. For example, will it be all employers or employers in a particular industry or employers in a particular region or some combination of these? Consider whether you will be positioning on attributes, benefits, or beliefs/values. What will your frame of reference be? Will you be positioning on a point of parity within your frame of reference or will you be positioning on a point of differentiation? If you have done the Strengths Finder exercise in BUAD 1000, that exercise may also help you think through this portion of the reflection. Finally, some items to consider as evidence might be references to academic/work portfolios, resumes, and personal websites.
After reflecting on all these aspects, personal positioning statement with yourself as the brand and targeted at potential employers for when you are on the job market. Explain your choices for the various elements of the positioning statement (apart from brand). If you are stating academic/work portfolios, etc. as evidence, you can include them or links to them as appendices.
