Assignment
Many current legal issues involving sports and recreation that will help shape sports, culture, and society in the future. The point of the paper is for you to advance an argument concerning a reform / change / new idea or policy in the sports world.
The paper should be 6-8 pages, paginated, double spaced with 12 inch Times New Roman font. Use a cover page with the following: paper title, your name, course name and date. The cover page does not count as one of your 6-8 pages.
Introduction-tell a brief story to get the reader's interest. Use an opening quote. Make the reader CARE about your topic. At the end of the introduction, include a thesis paragraph and a road map. For example, "In Part I, the paper explores ...; Part II argues ...; Part III explains ...
Part I - the Problem - concisely explain the problem that your paper attempts to solve. Frame narrowly so that your solution fits the problem.
Part II - Your Proposal - what are you proposing? Give as much detail and specificity as you can. Minutiae are valued here-much better than general, vague ideas.
Part III - Your Explanation - explain why your proposal solves the problem, fixes the issue, saves the world.
Conclusion-short summary, and possibly a suggestion of the next question to consider.
You must use at least 5 resources in writing your paper. Resources can include text book and other class materials, scholarly journals such as law review articles, newspaper and magazine articles, and primary sources such as cases, statutes, and NCAA rules and regulations (if applicable). All references to the resources must be cited in-text and appear in a resource list at the end of the paper. Your reference page does not count as one of your 6-8 pages.
