Assessment 1: Discussion participation
Introduction
This is an individual assessment. Student discussion during tutorials, webinars, chat forums and will be assessed with regards to preparation/time manage- ment, contribution/participation to small group work, contribution/participation to whole class discussions (including webinars and chat forums), leadership in forums, demonstrated engagement - i.e. listening and feedback - with groups (in class adopted forums, including face to face and online).
Task
You are expected to participate in four (4) different ‘Discussion Participation' forums. You should begin at least one thread and provide at least three posts in response to other participants' threads. Posting should be a minimum of one short paragraph and a maximum of two paragraphs. Word totals for each post should be in the 100-300(for the main response) and 200 words (on peers response) words range.
During the discussion, when you agree or disagree, explain why with supporting evidence and concepts from the readings or a related experience. Include a reference, link, or citation when appropriate.
During the discussion, be organized in your thoughts and ideas. Incorporate correlations with the assigned readings or topics. Stay on
topic. Provide evidence of critical thinking in your responses or interactions. Avoid summarizing.
During the discussion, contribute to the learning community by being creative in your approaches to topics, being relevant in the presented viewpoints, and attempting to motivate the discussion.
During the discussion, be aware of grammar and sentence mechanics. Use proper etiquette.
Remember that being respectful is critical at all times in the classroom, online and during forum chat discussions.
Assessment 2
REPORT AND PRESENTATION
Introduction
This assessment is to be completed in team of mini- mum of 2 students and maximum 4 students. A group participation form, which is available in LMS, needs to be completed, signed by all group members and submitted till week 8. Once submitted, the teams will remain fixed and no member additions or deletions will be allowed unless by approval of your unit facilita- tor/lecturer.
Task
The purpose of this group assessment is to develop a well-analysed and well-researched report and present their research report. The students will be asked to work together in project teams to evaluate hospitali- ty practices and initiatives within a specific situation using the appropriate theoretical concepts, tools and frameworks. This will include the analysis of appropri- ate hotel / hospitality company, clientele and stake- holders' data, their conclusions and a set of recom- mendations or strategies for improvement.
Report
Your report should have 2000 words, excluding refer- ences. It must cover the criteria that are required. The report must have Executive Summary, Table of Con- tent, Background information, sub-headings, critical analysis, findings and conclusion along with important plots/diagrams/figures created by yourself or taken from any source. Note that all the references must be stated clearly and properly. Your report should be a single word or pdf document containing your compar- ison and need to be submitted through Moodle. One submission per student.
Your report must include:
Title Page: The title of the assessment, name and student ID.

Introduction: A statement of the purpose for your report and a brief outline of your work (one or two paragraphs).
Body of the Report: Discuss the elements according to the criteria as mentioned in the task.
Conclusion: A summary of the points you have made in the body of the paper. The conclusion should not introduce any ‘new' material that was not discussed in the body of the paper. (One or two paragraphs)
References: A list of sources used in your text. They should be listed alphabetically by (first) author's family name. You need to provide at least 15 scholarly references.

INDIVIDUAL REPORT
Introduction
This is an Individual assessment. Each student is required to write a report on the contemporary ethical, legal, social and cultural challenges faced by a hos- pitality operator in relation a situation of a change
management or a crisis.
Task
The purpose of this assessment is to assess the con- temporary ethical, legal, social and cultural challenges faced by a hospitality operator in relation a situation of a change management or a crisis. They will report on their analysis and possible strategies to assist management of that organisation.
Your report must include:
Title Page: The title of the assessment, your group name and name and student ID for each of the students within the group.
Executive Summary Table of Content
Introduction: A statement of the purpose for your report and a brief outline of project (one or two paragraphs).
Body of Report: Describe the tasks you performed as mentioned in the task.
Findings and Recommendations
