Question: Explain why this patient most likely has acute sinusitis: DL is a 15-year-old who presents with his mother for ongoing upper respiratory symptoms. He states he has been sick for 2 weeks with his first symptoms including nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. He no longer is experiencing these symptoms and states he thought he was improving, however, developed sinus pressure and pain around his eyes with yellow discharge yesterday. He has taken Excedrin 3 hours ago without much improvement. His mother states they plan on going on vacation to Jamaica tomorrow and wanted DL to be seen in the office before they leave to make sure his symptoms would not get worse.
