Explain why these strengths are important for group work to occur.

A neighborhood comes together with issues they are having. The community is at odds and there's been turf battles, but they do overcome them. This seems like a great step in the right direction. However, leaders from different groups have declared that immigrants in the neighborhood are the issue. An organizer is concerned because this goes against their values and the emphasis on the well-being of all residents.

One of the values a social worker should work by the dignity and worth of the person (Netting et al., 2017). The community leaders have signified that the immigrants are to blame for the recent issues they've been having and want to put a plan in place to watch for these immigrants and report them without knowing their story and history. Immigrants deserve the same respect as anyone else.
