Case Study: Some people believe they have 'psychic' abilities, such as telepathy. We can define telepathy as the ability to acquire the thoughts of another person (i.e. what they are thinking about) without having any physical or verbal contact with them, Many studies into telepathy are now held in tightly controlled conditions that can be easily repeated by other psychologists. For example, to test the existence of telepathy, a participant looks at an image that has been randomly selected by a computer, while the person who claims to have psychic abilities attempts to pick the same image in another room. Some sceptics argue telepathy does not exist because it does not really meet the criteria of scientific investigation and therefore falls under the term 'pseudoscience' (false science)
