Problem

A group of scientists performed in analysis to assess systemic acquired resistance and cucumber plants and response to cucumber Mosaic virus. they grow cucumber plants and sterilize soil and split them into two groups experimental and control. one of lower Leaf of each experimental plant was treated with plain water no virus. 7 days later they affected one upper Leaf of all plants with cmv. after each infection they counted the number of CMV on lesions per leaf.

• Part I: The scientist also reported their analysis however they treated an upper Leaf of each plant first with a lower Leaf second. In one sentence or phrase explain why this second analysis was important.

• Part II: results of both experiments indicated that the second infection experimental plants had statistically significantly fewer CMV lesions compared to control plants. do these data allow the scientists to conclude that a hormone travels from infected leaves to uninfected leaves to increase resistance to infected by cmv?
