Question: Janet had a radical double mastectomy some years ago. To prevent the spread of cancerous cells (metastasis), all the breast tissue and lymph nodes and vessels were removed from the mammary and axillary regions. While she is glad to be cancer-free, Janet now suffers from persistent and painful edema in her left arm. Use your understanding of the lymph system to explain why she has edema and only on the left side.
