This was an experiment performed of isolation of menthone from peppermint oil by formation of 2,4-Dinitrophenylhydrazone derivative.
Part 1: preparation of the 2,4-DNP reagentPart 2: CrystallizationPart 3: Recrystallization
The questions I have are:
1)Write the reaction under study and explain why menthone is a good target molecule of the peppermint oil.
