Assignment

Question I: The focus of this discussion is U.S. individuals who have been charged and/or convicted of disclosing U.S. classified information to foreign adversaries or the media. To complete the discussion this week, students will need to (A) identify an individual who has been charged and/or convicted of disclosing U.S. classified information, (B) discuss the events surrounding the individual (ex. who is the individual, what was the individual charged and/or convicted of, to whom was the information disclosed, etc.), and apply the MICE acronym (Money, Ideology, Compromise/Coercion, and Ego) from the assigned reading (Charney & Irvin, 2016) to analyze what was the individual's motivation for engaging in the disclosure. Note students are highly encouraged to select an individual for whom they do not know much about. Doing so will provide a greater learning experience as opposed to focusing on an individual that a student is fully knowledgeable about.

Question II: How is death beneficial and necessary to evolution, yet destructive to the individual?

Question III: For this discussion, we will compare three websites with information about infancy and toddlerhood. These websites are three very different websites with different goals and purposes.

Question IV: While each of the "Ten Steps to Guiding Behavior" is important, identify three steps that you feel are the most important and explain why.

Question V: Explain why leadership and management are different. Use your own words. include a personal example where you have witnessed a good leader and a good manager or a poor leader or manager. Do you think that all good managers must be good leaders to be effective?

Question VI: How can carrying inventory protect against stockouts, balance supply/demand, and protect against uncertainty? What are the consequences of not carrying inventory?

Question VII: A. Explain the difference between coaching and counseling (in your own words).

B. Select a person in your life (co-worker, friend, family member, or someone you know well). Have a coaching session with them and then answer the following questions:

1. Was it difficult to have a coaching session (did it turn into a counseling session)?

2. What was the hardest part of the session?

3. How would you recommend conducting a coaching session (what environment, how long, how to start, etc)?

C. Pick a TV show/movie or previous example from your own life of a coaching session gone horribly wrong. Describe the situation and what you would do differently (as the coach).

Question VIII: Per the article titled in the weekly reading titled, "Issues of the Theory of Criminalistics Situations ", in brief, describe, the investigation of situations of criminal acts.

Question IX: Describe what exigent circumstances mean and provide at least 2 examples of when this could apply. [Hint]: Read the article in the weekly reading titled, "Warrantless Searches". Then find a state supreme court case from your home state involving exigent circumstances. Summarize the case and whether or not the state ruled in favor of the police or the defendant. Provide the link to the website. If the case was further appealed to the US Supreme Court, summarize the Court's decision. Provide the link to the website.

Question X: How can a deontological decision lead to moral behavior in law enforcement? Is ethical leadership and behavior a challenge to law enforcement officers? Explain your position.

Question XI: Describe some of the administrative/organizational challenges as it relates to ethics that managers must consider when looking to solve ethical problems.
