Explain which would be of more interest in each of the following situations, the probability distribution function or the cumulative probability distribution function for X. If you think both would be of interest, explain why.

a. A politician wants to know how her constituents feel about a proposed new law. She hires a survey firm to take a random sample of voters in her district, and X = number in the sample who oppose the new law.

b. Each time someone is exposed to a virus, he or she could become infected with it. Let X = number of exposures a person has prior to becoming infected. For instance, if X = 0, the person became infected on the first exposure; if X = 1, the person became infected on the second exposure, and so on.
