Resonance of a Pentadienyl Radical
The pentadienyl radical, CH2=CH-CH=CH-CH2, has its unpaired electrons delocalized over three carbon atoms. Use resonance structures to show which three carbon atoms bear the unpaired electron.
Imidazole is a weak acid, and thus reacts with strong bases to form the corresponding anion. Show this reaction, and draw resonance structures that account for the stability of conjugate base.
