Nanoscience: Self-assembly
Aim of the lab:Refer to the manual and incorporate the technique/ method used in the lab.Introduction: (Max 300 words)Summarise the theory/ concepts and applications in your own words. Include diagrams where appropriate- helps to explain what you are trying to convey.Experimental Section:Describe what you have done, including actual amounts of reagents and reaction times.
Results and DiscussionInclude your data, Figures, Tables, and observations here and discuss them. Ensure graph axes are labelled appropriately and include a figure caption (no graph titles). Think about what your data is telling you. According to the theory, what were your expected results? How is your data in agreement with/different to your expected results and why? What are possible sources of errors? Conclusion: (Approximately 200 words)Summarise your findings based on your own results and observations.Answers to questions:Refer to questions in the lab manual (CHEM 8013 a few extra questions).References: In-text references and Reference List.
ObjectiveIn this experiment the angle between a liquid droplet and a surface will be measured using a CCD camera and optics. Coating of a metal surface with self-assembled single-molecule layers of alkanethiols and functionalised alkanethiols will be investigated to demonstrate how the chemistry of a surface can change the surface energy and wetting behaviour. The impact of roughening a surface at the nanoscale will also be investigated.
Results were taken in pictures and in pictures have angles One picture was taken for rough surfaces, but I took three pictures because, for the average angles One picture was taken for smooth surfaces, but I took three pictures because, for the average angles For 0.25 pictures (In zip) For 0.50 pictures are (In zip) For 0.75 pictures are (In zip) For 1.00 pictures are (In zip) 5 different solutions containing volume fraction like 0.00,0.25, 0.50,0.75, and 1.00, and each volume fractions have 3 pictures for average angles
