A giant sequoia tree cut down in 1891, in what is now Kings Canyon National Park northeast of Los Angeles, contained 1342 annual growth rings. If a sample of the tree was removed for radiocarbon dating (radio = radioactive) today, what would be the ratio of the C-14 concentration in the innermost (oldest) ring compared with that in the outermost (youngest)? Assume that the density and overall carbon content of the wood in the rings are the same.
