Question: Women's lives changed dramatically in the years between the end of Reconstruction in 1877 and the beginning of the Great Depression in 1929. For example, industrialization played a role in the growth of single women moving to urban cities, seeking independence which then forever altered women's lives. Evaluate the extent to which women's lives changed in this period. In your answer be sure to discuss the change on continuity over time; make sure to explain what women's lives looked like prior to this era and reform movements, the roots and motivations for their reforms, and finally what their lives looked like afterward. Keep in mind the course themes of power, progress, and identity as you write your answer. How do they relate, if at all?
