If a 1.00 cm^3 solid cube of alumina ceramic initially at 300 C is placed in 50 ml of H2O initially at 25C in a closed, insulated container: (a) what will be the final temperature of the system when thermal equilibrium is attained. (Use relevant values in Appendix B of the Callister text and assume that the values of density, heat capacity, etc. are constant with temperature). (b) By what amount would the density of the alumina actually change due upon cooling?
