Creative project proposal (see below for a reminder of what the final project will be)
Formulate a project plan for the content, form and development process of your project. Write a 500-word description of the theme, subject or issue that your project will explore. Include a draft list of the works of art that you will 'collect' and analyse. Describe how you plan to go about researching your works of art and formulating your analysis. Do you already have some ideas about how your works negotiation our experience of the environment? Can you categorise them as 'about', 'in/of' or 'for' the environment? What format will your project take and why?
What are the success criteria?
Presence of 10 or more potential artworks
Clarity of ideas about the collection
Specificity of research plan
Coherence of justification for format chosen
Why are we doing this?
To experience developing a piece of work step by step and over an extended period of time
To receive formative feedback to contribute to a more sophisticated final project
To have the opportunity to experiment and maybe get off on the wrong foot, with plenty of time to reset
Transferable skills include:
Project planning
Articulate explanation
Accepting and using feedback
You will receive feedback on your proposal by Thursday, September 26, 2024. This will launch you into the second element of your project.
Creative Project - reminder of the long-term goal
‘Collect' a set of at least 10 works of art in one or more medium/s and explain what we can learn from them about how art can be ‘about', ‘in' and ‘for' the environment. The collection must have some unifying theme (e.g. subject, artist, issue).
Using one of the formats listed below, present reproductions of (or for more performance-based media links to) your artworks, and your analysis of how each one is ‘about', ‘in' or ‘for' the environment. Discuss how your selection of works together illustrates how art negotiates our experience of the environment.
