1. bring 5ml of bromophenol blue to your work station. obtain a P20 Pipetman and record below the digits you see in the window on the side. What volume is the micropipette set to deliver?

2. Set your P 20 to deliver 2ml . Using the tiny bead of dye you just placed onto the Paraflim, transfer dye to a second piece of Parafilm using 2ml increments- this requires pipetting a total of 5 times.

As you draw up the last bit of dye the 5th time around, look closely at the fluid in the pipette tip- does it contain 2 ml? I f not, speculate on where you may have lost some of the dye's volume?
