SCENARIO:
Miss Wilbur, an elderly 93 year old lady is admitted to your ward suffering from atrial fibrillation, slight confusion and a history of frequency and burning on micturition, following an appointment with her General Practitioner. She was admitted directly to the ward Under the care of a geriatric consultant.
On admission her observations include: T
38.5, P130 and irregular, R 26, BP
105/50and SATS 97% RA. Her weight is
55kg and height 150cm.
She lives alone and her only daughter lives interstate and is estranged.
A Urinary Tract Infection is her provisional diagnosis, but the consultant is unsure if the confusion is the result of larger issue at play.
