Assessment Description

Data products do not just analyze and deliver data, but are a solution to a specific problem. Therefore, understanding the objective and context for a data product is essential before designing and creating it.

In this course, you will be designing a data product. Therefore, each assignment will inform the next. The finished data product will consist of components you have selected and adapted based on feedback received.

To begin, conduct research on the types of data products employed by data scientists. Refer to the KDnuggets website by clicking here, for examples (albeit much simpler than what you are required to design). Then, choose an area of interest and a data product to develop.
Within a 1,000-1,250-word report:

Question 1. Describe the context and needs addressed by the data product. Consider organizational, consumer, and technological needs.

Question 2. Describe the purpose and goals of the data product. Justify your rationale with supporting evidence.

Question 3. Explain what is to be gained by using the data product. Consider various perspectives across different industries and audiences.

Question 4. Suggest three possible alternative types of data products that can accomplish these same goals. Identify areas in which these products could be doing better. What useful information can be gained by reviewing these?

Question 5. Summarize key technologies you intend to use.

Question 6. Consider how insights from religious and theological perspectives might be valuable when designing your data product. Would you approach this project differently when guided by a Christian worldview? Why or why not? Make sure to provide relevant references to Christian sources.

Make sure to anchor your decisions in established industry practices and professional literature.
