In my organic lab we extracted spinach pigments through grinding the leaves as well as adding dichloromethane to the leaves. Then we vacuum filtered the mixture as well as poured the filtrate into a sepratory funnel. Explain we then added water as well as it separated into two layer and we drained the bottom layer.
