You come down with a case of indigestion. This condition is caused by over excretion of hydrochloric acid in the stomach.
You can figure out how to neutralize the acid and cure your pains. The antacid in your medicine cabinet contains calcium carbonate, CaCO3, which reacts with HCl to form carbon dioxide and water. The healthy stomach pH range is 1.4 - 3.5 but yours has dropped to pH = 1.0 (pH = -log10[H+]).
a) Write a balanced equation for stomach acid neutralization (HCl) by CaCO3.
b) What is the maximum number of tablets you can take safely? Each of your generic tablets is 800 mg and contains 95% CaCO3 by mass. The 940 mL volume of your stomach is completely full of acid and water. You are too weak to split tablets so report your answer as an integer.
c) You were forced to round off your answer to the previous part. What would have happened in your stomach if you had taken one more tablet? (Hint: what pH would you calculate for this number of tablets? Why is this unacceptable?

A chemist places 1.7823 g of Na2SO4 in a 100 mL volumetric flask and adds water to the mark. She then pipets 10 mL of the resulting solution into a 50 mL volumetric flask and adds water to the mark and mixes to make a solution.
Why has fluorine been added? The structure is Cephalosporin.
