An empty plastic soft drink bottle has volume of 125 ml. It is capped in the morning when the temperature is 19°C. It is placed in the sun and by the afternoon the temperature inside of the bottle has rose to 36 °. The density of air at 19 °C is 0.0020 g/ml at about atmospheric pressure. Although air is a mixture, we can take the average molecular weight of the molecules in air to be 27.37 amu. (a) What is the mass of air in the bottle? (b) By how much does the pressure in the bottle increase as the temperature rises throughout the day?
