Explain what a conflict of interest is. Explain in some detail (enough so that someone unfamiliar with the situation could come to understand the main points) the way in which a certain type of conflict of interest in the work of credit rating agencies contributed to the 2008 financial sector meltdown. Finally, say a little bit about what, in your view, businesses and society as a whole might do to address this sort of problem as we find it in so-called 'gatekeeper' professions. (If you think that nothing at all can be done about this sort of problem, explain in some detail why you think that.)
