An owner of several racehorses is coming to you for advice about her training and breeding program. She says that she starts training her fillies at 12 months of age and keeps them on a very intense training regimen with a low fat, low carbohydrate, high protein diet. The fillies are very muscular and have little body fat deposits because of this. The owner tells you that she has noticed her fillies are not undergoing puberty at the expected time (18 months), and instead reaching puberty at closer to two years of age. The owner is asking you why this delay is occurring, and how she might be able to fix it. Explain using your knowledge of nutritional influence on puberty onset.
