Kathy is a nurse on an ICU unit who is presenting data on increased incidence of decubiti among the patients. She talks with her coworkers, Cory and Kimberly, and explains that there were five incidents of decubiti, three of which were skin breakdown related to nasogastric (NG) tube use. Based on this information, the unit is looking to do an EBP project that examines best practices to reduce skin breakdown secondary to NG tube use. Kathy asks Cory and Kimberly how to go about starting a project like this. Her coworkers give her lots of advice on the details of starting and creating an EBP project. Explain what are some data collection and sampling techniques that could be used in this proposed quantitative study and why?
