Choose any current social issue or problem and discuss how two of the main theories covered in the second half of the semester [conflict, functionalism, symbolic interactionism, dramaturgy, any of the feminist theories] can help us understand the issue or problem. In responding, 1) first, describe the problem/issue, 2) explain how each of the theories chosen would explain the underlying social dynamics involved, i.e., the social sources of the problem; next, identify 3) how would each theorist from that tradition address the problem, i.e., what is the proposed solution, and then 4) conclude by taking a stance on which theory you think best lends itself to addressing the social issue or problem, and why.
