Training session for managers
Based on the changing demographics of the U.S. workforce, I need to create a training session for managers covering the following. Could you provide a starting point on the different points below and concentrating on the last point with a paragraph or two?
Discuss projected demographics for the workforce in terms of age, ethnicity, gender, lifestyle, language, etc., and how this will impact communication inside and outside the company. (Employees may be older or younger; primarily of one gender or another; have differing lifestyles; may not have English as a common language; and, may have different cultural values or a different system of ethics.)
Point out the role of the manager as a communicator in a rapidly diversifying work environment. Provide an analysis of the issues involved in communicating among a diverse workforce and how to best address them, including how to deal with prejudgment and stereotyping.
Convey to the new recruits their managerial responsibility in
determining organizational values. Focusing on communication issues, supply suggestions for how, as managers, they can establish an organizational climate in which all employees feel valued and can contribute maximally to the success of the company.
Explain to these new hires what is expected at this company in terms of an ethical communications climate. Clarify for them the manager's role in establishing and maintaining an ethical communications climate.
Overall, instill an appreciation in your trainees of the managerial skills needed to communicate in a multicultural organization. Also, remember that the managers you are addressing may be as diverse as your team is.
