Assignment Brief - You are employed as a civil engineering technician by a local construction. The Director of the company is keen to promote the range of work that the company is involved in and to highlight the company's commitment to incorporating new technology to promote sustainability in the projects. You have been asked to produce a promotional booklet of information which can be used with clients to promote the company.

The promotional booklet should:

• The different types of construction activity.
• Incorporation of sustainability in projects.
• Evaluate how the use of the building will impact on the design criteria.

LO3 - Identify the different types of civil engineering/infrastructure technology used in support of buildings.

Assignment Brief and Guidance:

Assignment Brief - You are employed as an engineering technician by a local construction company. You are currently working on a large project and your line manager has asked you to prepare a design report identifying superstructure, substructure and civil engineering structures necessary for the given construction project.

Your manager has asked you to address the following items in your report:

During a recent progress meeting on the project, the client has questioned why so much money was spent on the pre-design studies for the site. The client also wants to know what factors you considered for your selection of the primary and secondary elements of the substructure and superstructure and how the component parts of the elements fulfil their function.

The report also needs to discuss the options on different types of civil engineering/infrastructure including site remediation and dewatering, substructure and superstructure works used in support of buildings and compare the different types of structural frames available to carry the elements.

LO4 - Illustrate the supply and distribution of a range of building services and how they are accommodated within the building.

Assignment Brief and Guidance:

Assignment Brief - Scenario: You are employed as an engineering technician by a local construction company. You are currently working on a large project and your line manager has asked you to prepare a 15-minute presentation for the client on the accommodation of Building Services within the building. The key points of the presentation are:

• Explain the supply and distribution arrangements for the primary services.
• Demonstrate how the superstructure facilitates the primary services.
• Appraise how the distribution of the primary services impacts on the overall design.

The submission comprises two related items:

1. A 15-minute presentation, including slides (using PowerPoint or similar presentation software). There will be 5-10 minutes of questions and answers to follow and you are expected to be able to respond to questions with reference to your research, making use of slides to support your answers.

2. In addition, you should prepare a set of presentation notes for distribution to your audience, prior to the presentation. These notes should highlight 'key points' from your presentation. These should NOT be printouts of the presentation slides but edited to provide the audience with information to support their understanding of your presentation and to facilitate their questions after.

Any material that is derived from other sources must be appropriately referenced using a standard form of citation. The final page(s) of your presentation notes should include a bibliography of any texts used in support of your research. This is to be presented according to an academic standard reference format.

Note - 3500-5000 words and at least 2 pages answer of each question. Please provide a reference, citation reference needs to use Harvard Referencing standard.
