A voltaic cell is to be designed at standard state conditions using the following two half reactions:
Mn+2 (aq) + 2e- ? Mn (s) Eo =?

Cr+3 (aq) + 3e- ? Cr(s) Eo=?

(a) Using the table provided select the correct standard reduction potential for each half reaction, and write them next to each reaction.

(b) Identify each half reaction as oxidation or reduction; mark which reaction occurs in anode and which in cathode.

(c) Write the chemical equation describing the spontaneous cell reaction (The overall reaction):

(d) Calculate Eocell .

(e) Draw a figure representing the voltaic cell, using the above reactions, label all components and indicate the direction of the electron and ion flow.
