Question 1: Select one person who has been exonerated (not from the West Memphis 3 or the Central Park 5) and (a) give a basic overview of that individual's case, and, most importantly, (b) explain the role of the psychology of wrongful convictions in the case. Not every case is a good fit for this assignment. Many cases of wrongful conviction may be the result of ineffective defense attorneys or official misconduct. If you cannot relate these to the psychology of wrongful conviction, then you may want to find a new case.

Question 2: So, while you should provide a basic overview of the case for context, you should focus on what went wrong, and in particular focus on the topics, we have discussed in class. (For example, a lying eyewitness is not as relevant to this class as a mistaken eyewitness.)

Question 3: Make sure you evaluate the procedures used in the selected case as relates to best practices based on research you have read in class (or looked up on your own!). For example, if an eyewitness ID was part of what led to the wrongful conviction, how was the ID administered? How does this compare to what psychology research would say SHOULD have been done?
